What if the threat of global domination by shadow governments was real and impacting us every day? What if, by employing highly advanced propaganda and technology, these powers have programmed us to blindly obey?
Toronto-based band The Android Meme thinks it knows the answer to these burning questions and urges us to heed their warnings. The Android Meme might well be called rock and roll prophets, delivering a message the world needs to hear!! “Looking at the global stage, it’s difficult not to think that there’s some sort of New World Order afoot.”
The Android Meme is an alternative rock band from Toronto, Canada, consisting of Stefano S. Amelio (vocals, production), Mathias A. Rodriguez (guitar, backing vocals, synthesizers), Vicky Blue (bass, backing vocals) and Jake Hamilton (drums, backing vocals, production).
The band was formed by Amelio in 2005 while attending York University. By 2008, they had released their debut eponymous EP, engineered and produced by Rob Sanzo (Treble Charger, Danko Jones, Voivod) at Signal II Noise Studios in Toronto.
In 2011 the band signed to Magna Carta Records in the United States, and released their first full length LP 'Ordo Ab Chao', produced by the late Matthew Von Wagner (Alpha Galates, Crystal Castles) and recorded at Rainbow Trout Studio in Etobicoke, Ontario. The album contained the single 'Sumii' for which an accompanying music video was released the previous year. After some regional touring between 2011-2014, the band entered an indefinite hiatus the following year.
In 2021, The Android Meme regrouped and formed their own production company, 'Sentient Productions', and their own record label, 'Prætoria Records'. They began recording a new EP entitled 'Crossing The Rubicon' at Crooked Hill Sound in Central Ontario in 2022. With additional mixing and producing by Brett Carruthers (The Birthday Massacre, A Primitive Evolution), and mastering by Roger Lian (Pantera, Soundgarden, Rush), the EP was released in October 2023.

The band was noted by American podcaster Patrick Gunnels for being openly critical of the Canadian government's mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic. In an episode of Toronto podcast 'Red Pill Cartel', Amelio, Hamilton and Rodriguez commented on the adversity that government mandates were causing in the arts community, noting the permanent closure of live music venues, rehearsal spaces and music stores.
Amelio remarked that the purpose of The Android Meme's music was to use art to actively encourage free thought in order to bring people closer together through open dialogue, without sacrificing their personal freedoms.
The band's lyrical content has ranged from concepts such as historical conspiracies, to the occult, philosophy and spiritual concepts. A recurring theme in the lyrics has been the act of rising above chaos and disorder to discover lost information and hidden knowledge, and the "one against many" trope.
The Android Meme cites a diverse range of musical influences including Muse, Peter Gabriel, Rush, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Orgy, Stabbing Westward, Deadsy and more.
